Whether the 12th century Scots or the ancient Romans invented the game of Golf, one thing is sure, in Estonia it only became popular in the 1993 following Estonia’s independence in 1991. Golf was first played at Niitvälja golf course, this nine-hole course is now the oldest in Tallinn and home to Tallinn Golf Club.

Today Estonia has several golf courses of varying standards, all set in beautiful landscapes where there are numerous water hazards, fairways and dense forest which present interesting challenges for all players. The award winning Estonian Golf & Country Club is regarded as the finest golf course in the Baltics, and is celebrating its entry into the prestigious list of top 100 European Golf Courses. The championship Sea Course boasts official pre-historic burial sites, restored stone walls and huge oak trees while it meanders its way through stunning pine forest to the coast and Jagala River.

The Golf Club also offers to the players a 9-hole course which meanders through impressive rock formations and gigantic stones from the ice age. During the summer time this unique course offers a 9.30 pm tee-off time. Playing golf at midnight - definitely a surreal experience!
